For Accountants and Fractional FDs
If a client needs finance you do not want to arrange yourself, they can send an enquiry through FundBiz at no cost to them. FundBiz is not a lender and does not run credit checks. We pass the enquiry to a business finance broker, who pays us a fixed fee for each enquiry and contacts your client about their options. We do not provide accountancy services, so there is nothing to cross-sell into.
When a referral is worth making
Usually at one of four moments: a client has been declined by their bank and doesn't know the market beyond it; a facility is ending, being reduced, or has been withdrawn; a tax or VAT bill has landed that the cash cycle won't absorb; or growth has outrun the working capital, which is the healthiest version of the same problem. In each case the useful question is often not which product, it's which lender, and a single relationship bank may not be the only option.
Who and what an enquiry can cover
A good fit
- Limited companies and LLPs
- Business loans and working capital
- Asset finance and commercial mortgages
- Invoice finance where there is a B2B ledger
- VAT and tax funding
- Refinance of existing facilities, including advances
- Businesses that have been declined or have adverse credit
Not a fit
- Sole traders and partnerships of fewer than four partners
- Consumer and personal borrowing
- Anything requiring advice (FundBiz doesn't give advice)
- Businesses that can't show lenders they can repay
What happens to an enquiry
- You send the client the referral link, or complete the enquiry with them.
- FundBiz passes the details to a business finance broker. FundBiz does not run a credit check.
- The broker contacts your client about their options and may introduce them to lenders. Any lender makes its own decision and may run its own checks.
- The broker pays FundBiz a fixed fee for each enquiry. Your client pays FundBiz nothing.

What your client is told
That FundBiz is not a lender, that we pass their enquiry to a business finance broker, and that the broker pays FundBiz a fixed fee for each enquiry. We don't present ourselves as their accountant's product. If a client asks whether you're paid for the referral, the honest answer should be whatever is true of your own arrangement.
Common questions
What does it cost my client?
Your client pays FundBiz nothing. FundBiz is paid a fixed fee by a business finance broker for each enquiry we pass on.
What happens to a client I refer?
They fill in the same enquiry form any visitor uses. FundBiz does not run a credit check. We pass their details to a business finance broker, who contacts them about their options and may introduce them to lenders. The broker or a lender may run their own checks, which can include a credit search, and they should tell your client before they do. Any lender makes its own decision.
Who is in scope?
The enquiry form is for limited companies, LLPs and partnerships with four or more partners, so it is worth checking entity type before referring. There's no minimum trading history to send an enquiry, though trading history heavily affects what lenders will consider.
What kinds of finance can an enquiry be about?
Business loans and working capital, asset finance, invoice finance, commercial mortgages, VAT and tax funding, merchant cash advance and refinance of existing facilities. FundBiz does not arrange finance itself, and any lender decides for itself. In general, lenders find pre-revenue businesses and companies that can't evidence the ability to repay the hardest cases.
Do you take over the client relationship?
No. The enquiry is about the finance question only. We don't provide accountancy, tax or audit services, and there's nothing to cross-sell into. You keep the relationship.
Can you help a client who has been declined?
A decline is often lender-specific rather than market-wide, and FundBiz publishes guides for businesses that have been declined. What matters is why they were declined, since a thin file, an adverse marker and a sector exclusion each point at completely different lenders. FundBiz cannot promise any outcome; if your client sends an enquiry, a business finance broker will contact them about their options.
If the client's need is specifically invoice finance against a receivables ledger, start from invoice finance.
